Eye of the Cheetah

Normally in the warmer months I am all about bright colors and fun pattern combinations, but I decided to take something from my closet that I usually only wear in the winter and summerize it! In the winter I paired this dress with black tights, black booties, a black belt, and a leather jacket. To lighten things up I chose to pair it with lighter accessories. It is so fun to "remix" your wardrobe from winter to summer by just changing up the accessories!

Floral and Chevron

I can't get enough of pattern mixing these days! I find that its my favorite way to wear patterns. These patterns work together for two reasons. One, they are in the same color scheme. Since they both are predominately navy blue, it seems like they belong together. Second, the pattern sizes are different. Since the floral print is large and the chevron print is small, it doesn't look too busy. When the patterns are the same size, the compete for attention and thats when your outfit gets cray cray.

To accessorize I played up the coral theme with my Mini Amanda bag from Tory Burch and coral wedges from Target. Talk about mixing high end and cheap! Always stop by Targets clearance shoe section because you can find some great deals like these $7 wedges!

Do you have any pattern play tips? Please share!

What happens in Nashville...

I was lucky enough to spend Memorial Day in Nashville! My boyfriend and I flew down to visit my family for the long weeked. I am head over heels (or boots) in love with Nashville, it is my absolute favorite city. It was only a quick, three day trip but we sure did make the most of it! Most of the time, we were on the boat, but we did make it downtown for one night!

I wanted to wear something fun, but still appropriate for downtown Nashville, and there's no way I could go downtown without my boots! Every time I have been downtown, I wear the classic southern look of sundresses and boots, so I wanted to switch it up this time. I wanted to be bright and fun, but still appropriate for the night scene.

The denim vest trend is right up my alley and I love styling them as a top! It is unexpected and it adds the perfect country touch to my outfit. To balance out the tighter vest, I paired it with a full mini skirt from Shop The Retail Therapist. This online boutique has so many cute options, I could order the whole store! The pink color is so perfect, it makes the whole outfit pop. It is now my favorite skirt in the whole wide world.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

Ketchup and Mustard Anyone?

And since my family are the only people who read this blog... you da bomb.com

I think that yellow and orangey-red are such a cool color combination together but I can't help of think of McDonalds or ketchup and mustard. I decided to just roll Ronald McDonald theme and do it anyway (yolo) And then to sweeten the deal, I mixed stripes and polka dots, which is my favorite combination of all time.

These shorts are from JCrew and I just love them. They are so cute but they still are appropriate for me to wear to work. The button up top helps make the shorts more work appropriate while still maintaining a fun, summery theme!

I kept the accessories to a minimum since the color combo was pretty loud. I paired the look with my nude gladiators to keep the focus on the outfit, not my feet. I kept my jewelry very minimum, only wearing a bright orange bracelet to help bring out the orange in the top so it wouldn't look as red.

Neon and Denim

The brighter the better! I love this pairing of hot coral, yellow, and green! During the summer time all I want to do is dress in the brightest colors possible. This tank dress from the Gap is perfect for that! It is the most perfect dress for summer because you can wear like this or throw it over a bikini as a cover up.

To keep the focus on the bright colors I paired this look with nude gladiator heels. These are so comfy and literally go with everything! I like that there is a little heel because the gladiator straps cut off your legs and makes them look shorter so the heel balances it out perfectly. They will definitely be my go-to sandals for summer!

Now on to my favorite part, the denim vest! I got this to wear in Nashville and I didn't think I would love it as much as I do. I couldn't even wait to wear it on my trip, I just want to wear it over everything! It was hard to decided if I wanted a light or dark wash vest but I am happy I went with the light because it pairs better with my summer colors. This one is from Old Navy and I love it!

Store Feature: The Limited

The Limited has always been one of my favorite stores! Whenever my mom and I go shopping, its tradition that we go to The Limited first.  They have a great selection of clothes for work and play. Most of the pieces are so versatile for any occasion and for all age groups! The best part is, they always have amazing sales going on! There normally is a certain percentage off or a buy one get one deal. And always hit up the sale rack first because there are some great deals!

I love their collections for this summer! There are so many fun and unique pieces that can be styled so many different ways! I did a little online shopping and picked out some of my favorite pieces. Check them out below!

#1) Seriously how cute is this maxi?! I love anything with bright colors and bold prints and this is just that! I might even go out on a limb and say that its my favorite maxi dress for summer! My mom loved it too because it comes in petite sizes so the shorter girls don't have to miss out. I would love to pop the lime green in this dress with green accessories!

#2) You can never go wrong with classic black and white stripes! I love love love the mismatched horizontal and chevron stripes. It kind of reminds me of a causal version of the Oscar de la Renta dress that everyone was crazy over last year. This dress could be dressed up with a chunky necklace and heels for night or dressed down for day with gladiator sandals and a fedora!

#3) This is the Ashton top, it comes in a million different colors. I love this lavender color for summer! This top is so versatile- you can wear it to work or pair it with shorts to dress them up! It can easily transition to fall and winter as well so you can get your moneys worth. I already have a few colors in this top and I'm looking to add in some summer colors! There also is a sleeveless version and a dress which is equally as adorable!

#4) How cool is the beaded top on this shirt! The beading totally dresses up the simple halter top silhouette. You would be surprised of how much this mint color will go with. My favorite combination is mint and pink, but pair it with white jeans for a fresh take!

#5) More classic stripes. I love this blue and white nautical jacket. It is perfect for summer nights when it gets a little chilly and you want a jacket. You can wear it with a skirt to work or pair it with some polka dots for a fun combo! To really dress it down pair it with a white tee, denim shorts and gladiator sandals for a really cool vibe!

#6) This textured A line skirt is absolutely gorgeous. I love the little circles all over it and the mint color. When I look at it, I automatically pictured wearing it to brunch. It is the cutest, girliest skirt ever! I would pair this skirt with the lavender Ashton blouse for a fun, pastel look or with a crisp, white striped top for a more modern look!

#7) I have been on the hunt for the perfect denim shorts that are not too short, not cuffed, light washed, and distressed. These shorts fit everyone one of those categories! They are also great quality so by the end of the day they will still look like they did when you put them on  and not like you have a saggy butt. These are perfect to throw on with a hat, tank top, and sandals when you have to run errands quick but still want to look cute!

#8) This lavender color has quickly become my favorite for summer! It is so soft and feminine that you can't help but feel pretty when you wear it! I love the lace detailing on the top. It takes a boring shirt up a notch so it will dress up your look! You could wear this with the A line skirt or with the denim shorts, it is so versatile!

#9) The Limited always has great, trendy jewelry. This necklace is perfect for summer. Since it is white and tan, it will go with everything so its great to take on vacation! I love the rope detailing to help bring it into the summer nautical theme. It is just the most gorgeous summer necklace ever!

So everyone head on over to The Limited to check out these great summer pieces! Did you guys like this kind of post? Would you like more? Let me know!

Navy Blue Prep

My favorite style will always, always be classic and preppy! Anything with stripes, sailboats, anchors, and anything nautical always calls out to my heart! I got my love of preppy style from my dad who loves anything preppy and can be seen in a preppy get-up regularly. My style is ever evolving to incorporate different varieties of clothing (I think of myself as a style chameleon!) but, at my core, I will forever be a preppy girl!

Big Green Pants

I had to make sure I wore these pants before the summer heat hit! With the bright Kelly green color and the wide leg shape, they truly are the definition of statement pants. To go along with the bright color theme I paired them with a bright neon pink to orange ombre top. Pairing these two brights together made the big pants more appropriate for spring time!

These are the Cassidy wide leg pant from The Limited. They might seem scary at first, but I think everyone should at least try a pair on because they are so fun! To help elongate your legs so you don't look boxy, make sure you wear your highest heels! This really, really makes all the difference in the world with these pants!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
