Red Hot...

I felt like a firework in this dress! I guess that happens when you dress in all red. Obviously, I am totally on the monochromatic bandwagon. It is so easy to put an outfit together that is in the same color scheme! I have always loved the color of this shirt, so I got the shorts in the same color. Then when I was outfit planning, my lightbulb went off and I thought that if I love this red-orange color so much, I should just wear all of it! So, I did, and I was a firecracker for the day.

What makes this outfit work is the circle pattern on the shirt. It breaks up the outfit without needing a belt. Since these shorts are more "professional", the playful circle print on the shirt makes them wearable for a casual event!

The key to wearing a monochrome outfit is not not worry if the shades are slightly off. As long as they are in the same color family, it will look great! I personally love wearing a lighter and darker shade of the same color. The colors match but aren't too "matchy matchy"

So, go through your closet and make some monochromatic outfits!

Boho Glam

The second I saw this bathing suit cover up at Target, I knew I had to have it. But I loved it so much I wanted to wear it ASAP and I wasn't going to the beach anytime soon. So I decided to wear it as a maxi dress! I can totally see myself wearing it over a bikini with a fedora and flip flops on the beach though! I put a tight, basic H&M dress underneath so it wasn't see through. The taupe color of the dress was light enough to blend in with the dress but dark enough to not stand out.

What really made the outfit is this felt floppy hat from H&M. I am so excited that felt hats are a trend this summer so I can wear this hat year round! I chose this felt hat instead of typical summer hat because I liked the contrast between the black and white, it made the hat stand out more than a regular tan straw hat. Also, the hat added to the bohemian vibe of the dress by mixing the textures of lace and felt.

Pink Maxi...

5th grade Kelly would not approve of this dress (I loathed pink with a passion) but college Kelly is obsessed with this maxi! Pink is just such a happy, bright color to me and whenever I wear it, it does make me happier! Pink is contagious! The bright pink color takes this basic maxi dress and makes it stand out.

I couldn't only wear pink though, I had to add in as many colors as possible! Sometimes I get a little overboard with color but #yolo. I think the neon yellow shoes, lime green clutch, pink flower headband, and turquoise necklace really brighten this already bright maxi up! I mean, why stop at one bright color?!

I hope your day is as bright as mine!

Hoedown...

Even though it is summer, it still gets a little chilly at night up here in New York. Which is why I opted for boyfriend jeans and a sweater for a dinner date with my sister at a local BBQ joint. After I got dressed and put on my hat I felt like the farmer who raised the animals, but hey, I guess I just wanted to look authentic!

This really is such a simple, easy, and especially comfy outfit. But when you put on a hat and tan mules, it steps it up a lot. It truly is all about the accessories! I specifically wore this flowy sweater so I could eat a lot of food and still be comfortable after! Comfort is key for me, especially when I am going to dinner!

Sassy Pants...

This outfit could possibly be my most favorite thing I have ever worn! Does it get any sassier than black sequin pants?! I'm obsessedddd! And to top it off a shimmery gold shirt that would make any outfit sparklier! I always say how I am not a fan of black, but my favorite way to wear black is with gold and sparkles!

I wore this look to Derek and Julianne's MOVE tour. It was an amazing show that was totally worthy of my sequins pants. I wanted to wear something there that would be special and that I wouldn't wear on a day to day basis (even though these pants will be in my outfit rotation MUCH more!) They were so easy to dance and move in!

I kept my accessories simple and in the black and gold palette to let the pants stand out. But you had to find a balance of letting the pants rock out and looking put together. I chose a simple black and gold necklace to tie the black up into the shirt. Gold sandals kept the look fresh without overpowering the pants.

National Wear Your Lilly Pulitzer Day!

Happy first day of summer! This weekend begins my crazy summer adventures and I can not wait for the fun to start! But of course to celebrate the first day of summer, I had to break out my favorite Lilly Pulitzer scalloped skirt. I mean, could it get any more perfect?! This is probably my favorite print since it is pink and has seashells, it just makes me crave the beach!

To keep the skirt the focus of attention, I just paired it with a white lace top. The lace trend is continuing into summer and I couldn't be happier about it! I love how the top has scalloping details on the top as well so it ties the together.

I kept the accessories in the light pink family because I thought white was to stark with it and pink was to bright. So I settled for the middle to make sure I didn't overpower the skirt. This bow belt might just be my favorite part of the outfit, Lilly and bows are meant to be! And obviously to keep the southern charm going, I paired it with some big ole chunky pearls.

Enjoy the first day of summer!

Guest Blog Featuring... My Big Sister!

Today my older sister is taking over my blog! Hope you enjoy :)

Hi, my name is Allison, I am Kelly's older sister. I love to play basketball, play with my dog, sing, dance, and act. But I love fashion the most because I get to dress up a lot, I get that from my mom and sister! Any event that we go to, I look in my closet and see what I have. I pick a lot of dresses when I want to wear something nice to go out. I like to wear dresses the most because they are fancy and comfy. This outfit I would wear to Nashville because of the hat and shoes. I wore this outfit because the white hat, white sandals, and pink purse matched my pink bag. Ice cream is my favorite dessert so I really love this dress.

Célfie...

I was so excited when I finally got my Célfie shirt in the mail! I mean could it be any more perfect for my blog?! I was totally inspired by the rolled up sleeves to do a fun, cool look. Which naturally meant short shorts and high heels.

Normally I am not a short shorts type of girl. They never have been flattering on my legs and since I'm tall they were extra short on me. But then I came across the Festival High Rise shorts from American Eagle and fell in love. Since they are longer in the middle and shorter on the sides, it hits my legs at a good spot but still had the look of short shorts! I am a big fan of the high rise as well because you can wear crop tops without bearing to much skin! These are a win all around.

Full disclosure: I ended up wearing a flower crown because I had a massive pimple in the middle of my forehead that wouldn't go away even with the extreme amounts of concealer I put on. So I did the next best thing, cover it with flowers! This actually turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the outfit so I have to be thankful that my pimple didn't want to be covered and I put on my flowers! This crown is from Francesca's and it's on and elastic headband which I love because you can wear it so many different ways!

Have a great weekend!
