Spring Blues

I'm loving this combo of chambray and waxed skinnies, it makes me feel so "downtown chic"! I love balancing the tight pants with a cool, loose top. These shoes are also becoming a quick favorite! These are from Target and I got them on clearance for $10!! I would SPRINT to your local Target and grab a pair! Not only are the super cute and versatile, but they are SO comfy! If you work on your feet all day or are running errands these shoes are perfect!

Also, I wanted to mention my curled hair. My hair is naturally curly so you think it would be easy to curl, but nope the curls fall out immediately. My life changed when I found out about NUME curling wands! As dramatic as that sounds, I can now curl my hair in ten minutes flat and have it last all day! Its amazing how awesome these curling wands are. I have the Titan 3, which gives you one base with three different sized wand attachments which is quite convenient if you travel a lot. For this look I was going for a loose look so I used the medium wand and curled 1 inch pieces away from my face. These wands are quite expensive, but if you youtube NUME curling wands you can find some awesome coupon codes! It is definitely worth the money, these are a life changer!

Do you guys have any holy grail, life changing products! Let me know, I'm always on the hunt for new products!

Highlighter Explosion

It has been rare to have a sunny day in New York lately, so when we do I have to take advantage! That means looking at my closet and picking out the brightest things I see! I loveee this bright color combo! My boyfriend said it looked like a highlighter pack exploded all over me (and I took that as a compliment!) I also am loving the mix of blues, greens, and pink! For me, pink is a neutral, but I love it paired with contrasting colors!

This skirt is from the kids section at Target! Never underestimate Targets kid section! Most of the time and kids XL is like the same and as women's small/ extra small. And the price point is much lower- always a plus! So next time you are shopping for a little one, don't count yourself out!

Easter Bonnet

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! This year instead of going for bright Easter colors, I went for a more muted look. I absolutely love this dress from JCPenny! The brocade detailing and the soft pink color makes it very classy. The best part is it was only $3.97!

This hat totally made the outfit though. I saw it at Polo Ralph Lauren and had to have it! The white stripes in the hat and in my cardigan along with my white shoes make the outfit spring appropriate! I have a feeling this hat and shoe combo will being showing up in many more posts! They are so versatile while brightening up the whole outfit!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

These Boots Were Made for Walking

Cowboy boots are the PERFECT spring shoe! In New York it is mighty cold for spring and wearing sandals is not an option but after the especially long winter, I am over my winter boots. Cowboy boots provide the same amount of warmth, but with a cute, springy look! I love wearing them with skirts and dresses because it makes the whole look and gives it  a cool vibe. These boots J.B. Dillons, and are straight from Nashville!

This top and skirt, I got on mega clearance from  Joe Fresh at JCPenny! The skirt was $3.97 and the shirt was $5.97! I normally don't shop at JCPenny but while I was walking through I couldn't resist a good sale! I love how a button up and cowboy boots dress down the skirt and make sequins appropriate for the daytime! Also, this purse is from the Nine West outlet and was 50% off! If you live near an outlet I would head over and grab some purses while they are still on sale!

How do you guys style sequins for the daytime? Do you have any spring style tips for the freezing cold? I would love to hear your opinions!!

Child of the Rainforest

Some days you just need to dress up like a hippie! I am in love with maxi dresses because they are so easy to throw on and it looks put together while being totally comfortable! This particular dress I love because of the ruffle bottom and fun print. Mixed in with the leaves are tucans, lemurs, and bright pink flowers. To let the dress stand out I kept my jewelry minimal, and just popped the pink with my favorite Kate Spade bag and my hippie flower crown!

I had a special moment with this dress last May. I was on the plane going to Florida, wearing this dress when I saw it in People StyleWatch! I went crazy and felt so cool being "on trend". Ever since then it has been a definite favorite!

Dynamic of "The Tuck"

"The Tuck" is the easiest way to change up an outfit! It is so simple to just take the front two inches of you shirt and tuck it into your pants. It gives a more dressed up look, without all the fuss! I started tucking my shirts when I was in grade school sports so I didn't have to tuck my shirt in all the way because that required soo much effort ;) And from there it just kind of stuck with me!

In this particular look, the tuck dramatically changes the same exact outfit! When the sweater is untucked, it gives more of a causal, laid back look. This is something I would wear if I was running some errands or heading to lunch. When the sweater is tucked, it shows off how awesome the shorts are and dresses it up. I wore the tucked look to work and then to a early dinner. It would be an awesome way to switch up a look on vacation when you're out and about all day and not going to change before dinner!

Its amazing how a simple "tuck" can change the look of an outfit! Which way do you prefer? What look is your favorite? I would love to know your opinions and how you use "the tuck'!

Jailbird

I have been obsessed with stripes this spring! I feel like it takes an outfit up a notch and makes it more chic. There is a Parisian feel to stripes that makes it extra special. This black scuba skirt is so comfy and versatile, I feel like I will be living in it this spring! It is so easy to dress it down, like in this post, or to dress up! I can't wait to style it more ways! Feel free to email me with any outfit details. :)
