Guest Blog Featuring... My Big Sister!

Today my older sister is taking over my blog! Hope you enjoy :)

Hi, my name is Allison, I am Kelly's older sister. I love to play basketball, play with my dog, sing, dance, and act. But I love fashion the most because I get to dress up a lot, I get that from my mom and sister! Any event that we go to, I look in my closet and see what I have. I pick a lot of dresses when I want to wear something nice to go out. I like to wear dresses the most because they are fancy and comfy. This outfit I would wear to Nashville because of the hat and shoes. I wore this outfit because the white hat, white sandals, and pink purse matched my pink bag. Ice cream is my favorite dessert so I really love this dress. 

Célfie...

I was so excited when I finally got my Célfie shirt in the mail! I mean could it be any more perfect for my blog?! I was totally inspired by the rolled up sleeves to do a fun, cool look. Which naturally meant short shorts and high heels. 

Normally I am not a short shorts type of girl. They never have been flattering on my legs and since I'm tall they were extra short on me. But then I came across the Festival High Rise shorts from American Eagle and fell in love. Since they are longer in the middle and shorter on the sides, it hits my legs at a good spot but still had the look of short shorts! I am a big fan of the high rise as well because you can wear crop tops without bearing to much skin! These are a win all around. 

Full disclosure: I ended up wearing a flower crown because I had a massive pimple in the middle of my forehead that wouldn't go away even with the extreme amounts of concealer I put on. So I did the next best thing, cover it with flowers! This actually turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the outfit so I have to be thankful that my pimple didn't want to be covered and I put on my flowers! This crown is from Francesca's and it's on and elastic headband which I love because you can wear it so many different ways!

Two Blue...

It got a little chilly up here in New York so I was happy to whip out my waxed jeans from The Limited. They are so effortlessly cool so I decided to keep that vibe going throughout the whole outfit. Since the waxed look is a unique texture, it would have more of a "cool" feel to mix it with different textures, not colors. Which is where my favorite tank from The Limited comes in. The loose fit and satin finish perfectly balance the tight, waxed pants. 

To accessorize, I wanted to keep it fun and cool so my favorite Target heels came out to play. These bad boys aren't the easiest to walk it but they sure are cute! The neutral color didn't take away from the outfit itself, but just added another element of "cool". And last but not least, this gorgeous turquoise necklace from H&M. I loved the way the two blues looked and the spikes played perfectly into the theme!

Three Way ;)

Now the "three way" isn't what you are thinking! It is actually my rule of thumb when I am shopping. When I see something I love, in order to buy it I have to think of three things in my closet to wear it! I like to mix up how I style the item either with accessories or three totally different outfits. 

When I saw this pull over camp shirt at Old Navy, I knew it would be easy to make three outfits. The hard part was narrowing it down to three!  Since it is such an easy silhouette, it can be paired with so many different things! I even love it to throw over a bikini for a day on the boat.  

The first outfit, I was inspired by the color and the stripes of the shirt. Whenever there are stripes, I automatically know I am going to pair it with polka dots! Seriously, is there a cuter combination? These pinky coral polka dot shorts were perfect. They had the perfect pattern and color to go with the shirt. But, why stop at one color? You mine as well add some bright yellow accessories. With all of the fun color going on up top, I kept the shoes a neutral white so they matched, but didn't distract from all of the other colors. This is a look I would wear to lunch with friends or even to school.

I also went for bright colors and pattern mixing in the second outfit (I might be addicted) This skirt is from the Target kids section, but I just love it. The pleats and bright water color design made this shirt a little more girly. Not to mention the blues matched perfectly! I kept the accessories in theme with a bright neon cross body and sandals. This helped keep the balance of girly and cool. I would wear this outfit to church and brunch or a fun day of shopping!

The last outfit is the one I actually ended up wearing for the day. I was going to a ten and twelve year old boys birthday party so I wanted to have a fun, sporty look going on. This outfit would be totally cute for a ball game as well though, just switch out the Vineyard Vines hat for your favorite team and you are good to go! I got this two toned cross body bag on sale at Target for $7, talk about a steal! The blues went perfectly, and it is also perfect for a sporting event so you don't have to lug around a big bag.

Next time you go shopping remember the rule of the three way!

Princess of the Flowers...

This past weekend there was a local country fest that I went to with some friends. Obviously, I had to break out my boots. And thank goodness I did since it was a total mud pit! For once my boots were actually practical and not just for fashion! 

I knew everyone else going to the concert would be in the always classic jean shorts and boots, so I wanted to be different while still fitting into the country theme. Immediately denim and sequins popped into my head, and I knew that I would wear some variation of that. I had originally wanted to wear a denim vest but it was freezinggg outside that day so I had to settle for a jacket. The combination of denim, sequins, and cowboy boots makes for a country chic look for any concert! 

To top it all off (literally) I wore a flower crown that I made last year. I was going to wear a straw cowboy hat but I felt that it was a little over the top since I do not live on a farm and I would look silly. So, flowers it was! I loved how it tied the whole outfit together and really made me look different. There's nothing like wearing a crown all day!

Happy Flag Day!

You bet I will take any opportunity to break out my patriotic red, white, and blue. And flag day is no exception. I love dressing up for specific holidays and being festive. It makes getting dressed that much more fun! I am already mentally planning my Fourth of July outfit. #fashiongeek #noshame

When my friends asked where my dress was from they were in utter shock when I told them it was from Old Navy. Sometimes you have to dig through the sales rack, but you can find great pieces at Old Navy! The only thing I will warn of is to make sure you aren't over paying for the quality. They have great basics and cute trendy pieces, but wait until they go on sale so you can get the most bang for your buck! But if you are feeling like trying a new trendy item that you aren't sure is going to make it into next season, Old Navy is the place to look! They have trendy pieces at a low price, so you don't feel guilty if you only wear it a few times. You're wallet will thank you as well :)

My absolute favorite part of this outfit is my flower JCrew necklace. This necklace can make any outfit automatically ten times better. I just love how it framed the neckline and looked like it was a part of the dress. My favorite part about this necklace though is that it feels like you're wearing a lei when you put this necklace on which lead to me pretending that I am vacationing on the beaches of Hawaii instead of going to work in Upstate New York.

Coral Craze

Ever since 6th grade I have loved wearing long sleeve shirts (or in this case 3/4 length) with shorts. I vividly remember being at the science fair in 6th grade and the boy next to me saying it was stupid to wear a long sleeve shirt with shorts. I took this assault on my Aeropostale outfit very seriously and promptly told him that it wasn't warm enough to wear summer clothes but it wasn't cold enough for winter clothes, so I mixed them. To this day I firmly stand by my decision to mix seasonal clothes. 

I love the mix of this look because the shorts are dressier, but the sweatshirt material of the top makes them appropriate for casual day wear. Not to mention the coral color matches perfectly- don't ya just love when that happens! The navy blue necklace ties the whole look together and gives the look a little bling. The other accessories matched perfectly into the navy and coral color scheme.
